galaxy, the print dominated culture, into this
electronic culture. And McLuhan in that sense is
very relevant for us now, because he provides that
kind of wider context in which we can make sense
of what is happening now as we move from an era
when television was the dominant medium into an
era when information technologies, and specifically
digitally electronic computers are the dominant
medium. Whatever forms that will take, it’s
McLuhan’s diagnosis of that situation that’s
